About Ram Media Foundation
Ram Media Foundation is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) public charity that strengthens community through local media and creative communication.
Our mission is to amplify local voices, keep Borrego Springs informed and connected, and share the community's story.
We publish the Borrego Sun digitally, carrying on the Valley's news source since 1949, and keep the Borrego Sun Archive, a digital collection that preserves the community's history for future generations.
We also operate KRAM 90.5 FM, a non-commercial public radio station. It carries KPBS and NPR programming, brings trusted news and information to the Borrego Valley, and puts Borrego Springs on the air across the greater San Diego region.
Every project we take on is built around storytelling, cultural expression and public engagement.
The Foundation was founded by Gabriel B. Wisdom. Our home is the Borrego Sun building at 730 Christmas Circle.

How we got here
Our online work began with Go To Borrego Springs, a guide for visitors and a local media source that keeps people connected to the town and its events. Around the same time, our founder, Gabriel Wisdom, was working to bring public radio to the Borrego Valley. That effort became KRAM 90.5 FM, which went on the air in February 2026 and carries KPBS and NPR programming.
When Go To Borrego Springs joined with the Borrego Sun, local news and reporting were added to the guide, and the two became one. Today the news, the archive and the radio station share one home under Ram Media Foundation. Everything we publish carries the Borrego Sun name, and the Borrego Sun is where we are headed.
Preserving the past
The Borrego Sun has covered Borrego Springs since 1949. This archive brings that record together in one searchable place: back issues of the newspaper, thousands of website articles and photographs, the manuscripts of historian Phil Brigandi, and coverage of Borrego Springs from other publications.
We are also developing a public history exhibit and research space at the Borrego Sun building, and we continue to catalog and scan the paper's files so they are not lost.
Reporting the present
The Borrego Sun is the Valley's daily news source, published online and updated every day at BorregoSun.com, with a weekly email newsletter. We cover local news, community stories, events and the arts.
Through our Youth Media Program, local students work with a mentor for eight weeks to learn reporting and publish their own work.
Preserving the future
Today's news is tomorrow's history. The archive is updated every week with the Borrego Sun's newest stories, so the record of Borrego Springs keeps growing instead of stopping at the last printed page.
Two years after a story is published, it moves into the archive in full, with its photographs, and can be downloaded as a PDF. That secures each story for the future, whatever happens to websites and technology.
We are also training the next generation of local reporters, so that someone is always here to tell the town's story.
Who this is for
The archive is for anyone who wants to research Borrego Springs, learn more about it, love it a little more, or simply follow their curiosity. It is free to use.
Connecting the community
Within Borrego Springs: the Borrego Sun, our newsletter and KRAM 90.5 FM keep neighbors informed about what is happening in town and give local organizations, schools and residents a place to be heard.
Beyond Borrego Springs: KRAM 90.5 FM is a non-commercial community radio station that brings KPBS and NPR programming to the Borrego Valley. The Borrego Sun gives visitors and readers elsewhere a window into the town. Together they bring the wider world to Borrego and put Borrego Springs in front of the greater San Diego region.
